I met Monica Cruz in the summer of 2013. I was interviewing lawyers for a family law matter. I was terrified and unsure of the future. I interviewed lawyers that summer because I had trusted two dangerous people and now faced one of the most difficult decisions I would ever have to make in my life. I never imagined that I would ever be in this situation, but that is exactly where I found myself. I needed a lawyer, and I needed a good one to fight for me and my twin boys. When I explained to Ms. Cruz the facts of my situation, she quickly assessed the legal aspects and broke it down for me. Somehow, I felt as though Ms. Cruz wanted to take care of me and that she had our best interests at heart. Ms. Cruz told me that she would fight for me with every fiber of her being, and she did. You see, I was the victim of a fraudulent gestational agreement and what could only be explained as a human rights violation. I had just given birth to twins. The twins are biologically mine, but in the upcoming days I would be faced with giving up my boys to a pair of wicked and deranged people.

Throughout my case, and with the assistance of an adoption fraud expert (Lynne Banks), we discovered the extent of adoption fraud cases and numerous other scams committed by the intended parents. These people trampled my statutory rights, threatened my life, and tried to intimidate me because of my young age. Ms. Cruz assured me that the fake surrogacy agreement that I was conned into would easily be deemed unenforceable. We both also knew that was never going to be enough in my case. Ms. Cruz and I agreed that the intended parents had to be permanently removed from our lives if we were ever going to be safe. During my case, we discovered a trail of unconscionable behavior. The intended couple agreed to terminate their parental rights after just one round of a request for documents. Ms. Cruz scared these wrongdoers so much, that the very same day the Order of Termination of Parental Rights was signed, these perpetrators physically moved out of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. When I fully realized who I was dealing with, I knew that my twins would be in peril for the rest of their lives. Although I was only 19 years old, I stood up and fought for these beautiful babies and for their futures. I have raised two 7-year-old twins and I would not change that for the world. The boys have been the joy of my life. I could not have done it without Ms. Cruz’s passion, commitment, and support. Our meeting forever changed my life. My sweet boys are loved, and they are safe. At Cruz Law Group, I have the unique opportunity to help people in similar situations. I think I have truly found my passion and I am here to help you through your journey.
